How to play Brick Breaker

Take a moment with Brick Breaker before moving to another game. Clear all forty-five bricks before losing three balls. Look at what changes after your first action. Check the rule that explains your first action. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls.

Single 45-brick layout, three balls.

Keep the aim in sight

Keep the stated aim separate from side details such as animation or appearance. Progress is measured by the game’s own completion or scoring rules. Refer to the controls when needed.

Your goal

Clear all forty-five bricks before losing three balls. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. The example below illustrates a decision.

Step by step

  1. Start the ball.
  2. Move the paddle to intercept it.
  3. Paddle contact changes the outgoing angle.
  4. Restart a remaining ball after a loss.

Controls

Pointer, arrow keys or held Left/Right. Start / pause and New round are available. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Return to the rules if the result is unexpected.

A useful example

An edge hit sends the ball at a different angle. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Choose a deliberate next step.

Watch out for this

Track its landing point, not only its current x-coordinate. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again.
